bits of unreported history that may be of casual interest… as to doctrinal origins.

sykes was one-of-a-kind in the pentecostal movement, but he was considered quite a maverick who went his own way with heretical teachings repugnant to the pentecostal faith.. joshua sykes’ congregation was integrated, unlike pastor russell’s public speeches/sermons where blacks and whites both could attend, but only in separate sections--sykes's members were sitting side by side in the pentecostal church.

this was considered dangerous and inflammatory at the time.. pentecostal preacher joshua sykes practiced racial and gender "integration" as early as 1908 -- having both african-american and female assistant preachers, staffers, and members.

it’s all in person and only fully vaxed can go

2023 will see a big push to get rank and file back to in person meetings and ministry.

they have opened a can of worms with zoom but what they really want is only in extreme illnesses cases can someone use zoom .

the only problem is they want everyone fully vaccinated which means if you didn’t go for your latest booster in the last several months then you are no longer fully vaccinated and just the same as someone who never accepted any shots right from the start.

i was on several occasions.. the arrangements were often announced from the platform after the closing song and prayer by the last elder up on the platform.. sometimes it was included in the service meeting announcements as "on saturday we're meeting at 10.00am at the kingdom hall for field service, and after field service for anyone who wishes, especially for the younger ones, we will be having a congregation picnic meeting at the beach carpark on seaview road.".

well, according to the new elders manual you won't be hearing those words again.

Those congregation bbq's and picnics were only a 'handful' of perks which I enjoyed growing-up as a kid in the Borg.

I mean,,having no birthdays, Xmas, Halloween, Easter, MothersDay, Fathers Day all held back from you as a JW kid. Just to name a few things taken away from you as a kid in the Borg.

BBq's and picnics were only a couple of things a JW kid can have in the Borg. Only to have them fall by the wayside slowly. Maddening. Probably to avoid 'legal' entanglements,,as allways.

Why Do JW`s still use the Name Jehovah ,when they admitted in the Aid Book that it is not the correct pronunciation of his name ?

'Jehovah' could be what's kind of an 'emotional investment'. What makes the sheeple to feel different, unique.

But yeah, the cost of rebranding the name would be astronomical, prohibitive.

Never happens anymore.

The Borg has really honed-in on discouraging group activities outside of meetings, FS or whatever. Where conversations may strike-up independent thought/speak or people questioning things & voicing opinions.

Just work, work, work.....
